SOCIAL PURPOSE

WE'RE A FORCE FOR GOOD

As part of the world's largest food service provider, we can positively impact many lives, as well as the communities and natural environments in which we operate. We take this responsibility very seriously.

Our Social Purpose Strategy is built around three key priorities: People, Safety and Sustainability.

PEOPLE

Our teams are at the heart of what we do, so we:

  • Recruit, retain and develop our employees so that they can grow and progress
  • Support colleague and customer well being through creation of an inclusive culture and our Wellness strategy
  • Engage with local communities and individuals who may experience barriers to employment.

SAFETY

The safety of our colleagues and customers is paramount.

Our QHSE (quality, health, safety and environment) systems are guaranteed and certified to ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015 and ISO 45001:2018.

We have achieved the RoSPA Gold Healthy & Safety Award for 18 years in a row, and were honoured with an Order of Distinction by the organisation in 2020.

SUSTAINABILITY

We take our lead from Compass Group UK and Ireland's Sustainability Strategy. This reflects current trends and insights from colleagues, clients, customers and industry experts, helping us better understand what's affecting the global food system, our industry and our operations.

We have a duty to manage our impact on the environment and are continually looking for better ways of working. We're focused on four pillars: food waste, single-use plastics, carbon emissions and plant-forward meals, and prioritise these through each of our work streams.

Our procurement organisation, Foodbuy, builds direct relationships with manufacturers and growers who share our values and commitment to sustainability, including over 20 social enterprises changing the world for better.

CHARITY PARTNERS

We want to give back to the people and communities we work with every day. So we partner with a range of local and national organisations, often affiliated to our clients, to have a real impact on individual lives.
