Yvonne Taylor, Head of Cleaning and Support Services for Compass One, is the new Chair of the British Institute of Cleaning Science (BICSc), the leading independent, professional and educational body for the cleaning sector.

Yvonne will serve a three-year term in the role, placing her at the forefront of shaping industry standards, best practice guidance and professional development across the cleaning profession. As Chair, she will lead the BICSc Council while also directing the organisation's commercial arm, helping to ensure its services continue to support the evolving needs of the industry.

Having been voted onto the BICSc Council in 2018, Yvonne has played an active role in the organisation's development and transformation over recent years. She was subsequently elected Deputy Chair by her peers and now succeeds to the role of Chair.

Yvonne brings more than three decades of industry experience to the position, and her career history reflects her passion for learning and professional development. Having joined Compass in 1995 as a cleaner and pot washer, she gained BICSc qualifications and embraced all opportunities to progress. She has since advanced through a variety of operational and leadership roles.

Looking ahead, Yvonne is focused on continuing to drive digital innovation, embracing emerging technologies and ensuring BICSc's training programmes remain relevant to the changing needs of the sector. She is committed to ensuring that the needs of cleaning operatives and clients remain at the heart of the Institute’s work.

In her role as Chair, Yvonne plans to continue raising the profile of cleaning as a rewarding career with great scope for growth. A passionate advocate for development, she believes education, training and clear progression pathways are essential to attracting the next generation of talent and creating greater opportunities across the industry.

Within Compass One, Yvonne is responsible for cleaning and support services across the organisation’s ESS and Healthcare sectors, covering a diverse range of environments including military sites, government departments, offshore energy facilities, NHS hospitals and private healthcare providers. Her appointment reinforces a longstanding commitment to professional excellence and skills development within these sectors.
