ESS, specialist provider of foodservice and FM to military establishments across the UK, has mobilised the soft FM contract for the UK Hydrographic Office (UKHO), a world-leading centre for hydrography, delivering data and expertise to support safe, secure and thriving oceans.

ESS is delivering a range of services from catering and retail to cleaning, waste management, mail services and general labouring, including moving light equipment, preparation for site visits and minor redecoration works to the site in Taunton, Somerset.

As part of the mobilisation, the company has welcomed 22 transferring colleagues to its workforce. It has worked in close collaboration with DIO and other MOD stakeholders to ensure a smooth transfer of services.

UKHO is an addition to the Hestia South West Multi Activity Contract already being run by ESS. The company supports over 250 military establishments across the UK, from Cornwall to the north of Scotland. These include operational, headquarters and training environments in partnership with the Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO) and other industry partners. 

ESS is providing a high street style dining experience for customers to encourage networking and relaxation during breaks. This incorporates an appetising food offer created to meet a variety of tastes – from traditional to contemporary cuisines, including healthier and more indulgent options and covering a range of dietary requirements.

There will be extended access to high-quality food and drinks through a new smart market which will be available 24/7, loyalty rewards via the company’s Time2Eat app and themed events delivered in collaboration with suppliers. Investment in cutting-edge equipment and systems will ensure high-quality, data-led FM solutions across all services.
