Today marks the start of Armed Forces Week (20th – 27th June 2026)

At a time when the values of service, resilience and teamwork remain as important as ever, Armed Forces Week provides an opportunity to recognise those who have served and continue to serve.

Before joining Compass, I served as a Logistics Officer in the Royal Navy, both at sea and ashore. That experience gave me a deep appreciation of the commitment, resilience and teamwork that define the Armed Forces community – values I continue to see across our business every day.

Our Armed Forces Network (AFN), co-chaired by Kris Nicholson and Angela Lewis - who recently won the Celebrating Forces Families Armed Forces Advocate of the Year Award - brings together Reservists, Veterans, Cadet Force Adult Volunteers, military families and allies from across Compass - and it’s something we can all be proud of.

As a forces-friendly employer, we’re proud to hold the Armed Forces Covenant Gold Award as well as having four finalists in the Forces in Business Awards taking place this coming Thursday, 25th June.

To mark the start of Armed Forces Week, I’ll be joining our UK Executive and AFN colleagues, charities and external partners at our Chertsey office. It will be an opportunity to share lived experiences while strengthening our partnerships and reflecting on our collective impact in supporting the wider Armed Forces community.

Get involved this week

I’m looking forward to our continued work with Kris, Angela and the wider network as we continue to build on this momentum together - and this week, I encourage you to take a moment to learn and support those around you. Together, we can create a workplace where everyone connected to the Armed Forces community feels seen, valued and supported.
