ESS Works With Drop4Drop to Fund a Clean Water Project in India

29 June 2021

ESS has worked with Drop4Drop to fund a clean water project in Arundhathi Puram SC Village, Tamil Nadu, India. Previously the population of 1,035 used a water tank that only supplied water once every two days – not nearly sufficient for a community this size. The new system provides clean water to 345 houses in the village!

The Drop4Drop programme funds clean water projects through sales of Life Water. Since 2014, each bottle sold across ESS, and the wider Compass business, has funded the installation of wells and infrastructure for communities in need in India and Africa.

Every project undertaken provides a sustainable source of clean water to an entire community that has never had this privilege before. Drop4Drop also commits to employing local labourers and heavily involving the community through maintenance training and hygiene education, meaning the benefits are long-term and far-reaching.

In the past year, ESS has also funded projects for two villages in Chiure District, Mozambique and Jamaru Village, Kiang West District in The Gambia, meaning we have supported 16 locations to date, providing clean water to 23,983 people.

In February 2021, Compass Group UK & Ireland and Foodbuy UK & Ireland surpassed an incredible 250 completed projects through the relationship with Drop4Drop. It is estimated that over 268,000 people now have access to clean drinking water thanks to the partnership.
