DIVERSITY & INCLUSION

WE MAKE EVERYONE FEEL AT HOME

We believe that having a workforce which reflects the diversity of our communities makes us a better business, so we create safe, supportive environments where people can bring their whole selves to work.

We ensure that every member of our team is treated with dignity and respect, whoever they are and whatever their identity.

A PLACE FOR TALENT TO THRIVE

Creating an environment that values each person as an individual leads to a culture of inclusivity where opportunities are open to all.

We continue to build on our diversity and inclusion commitments and initiatives to attract the best people into our business and give them the tools and support they need to succeed.

CULTURAL DIVERSITY

Our parent company, Compass Group UK & Ireland, has signed up to the Race at Work Charter, which improves employment outcomes for black, Asian and minority ethnic (BAME) employees in the UK.

We have recently launched Within, a cultural diversity employee network focused on addressing the barriers to BAME recruitment and progression.

GENDER EQUALITY

Women make up more than two-thirds of Compass Group UK & Ireland's workforce, and one-third of our Executive Leadership Team.

We nurture female talent through initiatives like our Leadership Accelerator Programme, a partnership with Mumsnet to help mothers returning to work to enhance their leadership potential.

Our Women in Food Ambassador Network focuses on attracting women into the food industry and promotes their professional development.

SEXUAL IDENTITY ISN'T A LABEL

How we identify is part of our individuality and our LGBTQIA+ and Allies network ‘Pride in Food’ is about celebrating that individuality, supporting and treating everyone with the respect they deserve.

AGE IS A POSITIVE ASSET

We value the experience of maturity and the energy of youth. Our workforce spans the generations, from school leavers through to many who are beyond retirement age. We welcome everyone with the capability and potential to make a positive contribution to our business.

WORKING WITH

DISABILITY

We ensure that people with disabilities can access roles within our business and receive the support needed throughout their careers.

In London, we have joined with the Tower Project to bring adults with disabilities into our workforce and help them to lead more independent lives.

We also work with Foxes Academy which equips young adults with learning disabilities to find sustainable employment in the hospitality sector. We are proud to provide placements for Foxes Academy students in teams where they will gain skills, knowledge and confidence.

PARTNER ORGANISATIONS

We work with carefully selected partners to help implement strategic initiatives. These include:

  • Springboard charity which helps people from disadvantaged backgrounds upskill and prepare themselves for the world of work
  • Hospitality Action which supports people within the hospitality industry dealing with a variety of life challenges
  • WiHTL which increases access for people from under represented backgrounds at all levels across our business, particularly in leadership positions.

We are also proud signatories of the Armed Forces Covenant, which means that we actively seek to employ veterans young and old, as well as the wounded, injured and sick, by working with the Career Transition Partnership (CTP) to establish a tailored employment pathway into our business.
