ESS, the Defence, Energy and Government Services sector of Compass Group UK & Ireland, has won the Thames Valley Police catering services contract.
The two-year contract will see ESS deliver catering services at the Thames Valley Police Training Centre in Sulhamstead, serving around 12,000 meals a year to personnel undertaking training at the site. The company will also provide planned operational feeding, emergency operational feeding and hospitality across the Thames Valley region.
The contract will be delivered by ESS Government Services, which supports high-profile sites across police, secure environments, local and central government with clients including the Ministry of Defence, Department of Work & Pensions, Department of Health and Welsh Government. The win builds on the company’s existing police business which includes Kent Police, City of London Police and the Metropolitan Police Training Centre.
After a successful tendering exercise, Thames Valley Police awarded the contract to ESS as the company was able to demonstrate strong evidence of its flexibility and reliability, particularly in relation to operational feeding. Other key elements of the offer included clear social value commitments and implementation of the ESS App which supports the provision of menu information, secure cashless payment and click and collect services for customers.
Mark Webster, Managing Director – ESS Defence, Energy and Government Services, commented:
“We are thrilled to have been awarded the contract to deliver catering services for Thames Valley Police. As well as introducing an exciting new food offer at the Sulhamstead training centre, we are investing in a new vehicle to deliver high-quality operational feeding support for those out on the ground. We are delighted to have welcomed seven new team members to ESS as part of the contract.”
